Delete your data or account

Rappel is published by Pourvesh Lautan. This page explains how to delete individual data from Rappel, and how to delete your whole account.

Delete some of your data, keeping your account

You do not have to delete your account to remove data from Rappel.

To delete a single reminder:

1. Open Rappel and go to History.
2. Tap the … menu on the reminder you want to remove.
3. Tap Delete from history.

To delete your whole reminder history at once:

1. Open Rappel and go to Settings.
2. Scroll to Privacy & security.
3. Tap Clear reminder history.

Either action removes the reminder's title, note, and the contact details it pointed at from our servers and from every device signed in to your account. A record that the reminder once existed is retained so the deletion can reach your other devices, but it holds no content.

You can also email rappelsupport@gmail.com to ask us to delete specific data for you. Requests are handled within 30 days.

Delete your whole account

This removes everything listed further down, permanently.

From inside the app

This is the fastest route and takes effect immediately.

1. Open Rappel.
2. Go to Settings.
3. Tap the account card at the top.
4. Tap Delete account.
5. Confirm when prompted.

Your account and the data listed below are deleted straight away, and you are signed out.

Or ask us to delete it

If you cannot access the app, email rappelsupport@gmail.com from the address you signed up with, asking for your account to be deleted. We will confirm once it is done. Requests are handled within 30 days.

What is deleted

Deleting your account permanently removes all of the following from our servers:

• Your account and email address
• Your username and profile
• Every reminder you have synced, including its title, note, schedule, and the contact details it points at
• Your reminder activity history
• Your friend connections, and any pending friend requests
• Reminders you have shared with friends, and reminders shared with you that you have not accepted
• The notification token identifying your device installation

What is kept, and for how long

• Copies of reminders your friends already accepted. Once a friend accepts a reminder you shared, it becomes their own copy in their account. Deleting your account does not remove their copy, in the same way deleting a sent message does not remove it from the recipient's phone.
• Data on your own device. Reminders are stored locally as well as in the cloud. Deleting your account removes the server copy; uninstalling Rappel removes the local copy.
• Encrypted backups. Our database provider takes routine encrypted backups for disaster recovery. A residual copy may persist in those backups for a short period after deletion before it is rotated out. Backups are not readable by us in normal operation and are never used to restore deleted accounts.
